HAVANA CIGARS

While a connoisseur of wine might reasonably argue the superiority
of one vintage year over another and one vineyard over another, it
would be an act of extreme prejudice to award the crown of supremacy
to any one wine. With cigars, however, there is no second opinion.

Indisputably, the best cigars come from Cuba, and are named after
its capital city, Havana. Yet there are certain analogies to be
drawn between Havana cigars and vintage wines in that both
represent a supreme achievement in their respective fields.

An Havana cigar eclipses an ordinary one as a bottle of first growth
claret eclipses a common table wine. And both these sensuous
pleasures are long in the making, owing nothing to technology and
everything to nature, judgement, experience and traditional dexterity.

Finally, it is true of Havana cigars, as of vintage wines, that their unmistakable excellence is due entirely to their place of origin.
